Game Recap

A great effort from many of the Smokies in this one. The offense collected 14 hits, with 7 going for doubles. Jared Young was at the center of most of it, as he hit 3 doubles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3 as well. All ten position players used in the game reached base at least once. On the mound, Cory Abbott continued his early season dominance with a quality start. The bullpen ran into some control issues but limited the damage and with the Smokies scoring all 11 of their runs in the first 5 innings, the game wasn't really in doubt by that point anyway.

Injuries, Updates, and Trends

It wasn't all good news as Nico Hoerner was forced to leave the game early after being struck on the wrist with a pitch. It didn't look to bad, and his exit appeared cautionary as much as anything, but we'll see.

  • Has any gotten any eyes on Ian Happ? Any idea what he is working on? Progress? Hope?

  • In reply to nukee:

He looks very much the same to me.

  • Nice outing for Abbott. Scary for Hoerner. Hoping that hit on the wrist is very minor.

  • In reply to Milk Stout:

Hopefully Hoerners alright. I think he's by far the most relevant prospect given he's essentially Zobrist and maybe Russell's future replacement. He was off to a nice start in AA too lets hope this is just a bruise and not a broken wrist.
