  • Thanks for the update, Tom. Happy New Year!!

  • In reply to Cliff1969:

You're welcome! Happy New Year to you also, Cliff.

  • Any interest in 31 yr old, former Cub Casey Coleman ? I don't think he has been absent from ANY of your offseason recaps. Has he added anything since his last MLB appearance in 2014? Have his 22 saves garnered enough interest to warrant a ST invitation?

And Happy New Year to you'all.

  • In reply to DropThePuck:

The parameters of this assignment are much different than the major or minor league recaps that are posted.

The players that are covered were part of the Cubs organization in 2018 that either remain with the organization or have not signed with anyone else. Coverage includes any game that a player takes part in that they contribute (therefore, no 0-for's). The object is to report the information. At this time, I'll leave the analysis to others.

So to use your Casey Coleman example, Coleman was signed by the Cubs in 2018 and has not yet resigned with anyone. The team he plays for in the LMP decided to use Coleman as their closer, and he has been successful for them. Whether his saves get him another contract is not germaine to the article, it is simply news.

    Have a Happy New Year!

  • In reply to DropThePuck:

I just saw on MLBTR that Coleman has signed a MiLB deal with NYM.

  • In reply to CubsFanInNorway:

He has already been erased from next week's report.

I saw that KB and Bryce Harper spent New Years together. Maybe Kris had a contract conveniently at home and we'll have a done deal in a few days. That would be a nice present for us.
