Rain washed away much of the action on Saturday. Since none of the games had playoff ramifications, they will not be made up and were cancelled instead.

Injuries, Updates, and Trends

The Cubs signed former Cardinals lefty Jaime Garcia to a Minor League deal.

As expected, speedster Terrance Gore was added to the 40-man roster and was called up once rosters expanded today. In a bit of a surprise, Taylor Davis also got the call. I would assume this is a temporary move until recently acquired Bobby Wilson is able to come off the disabled list next week. James Norwood was also recalled to Chicago. To make room for Gore and Davis, Rob Zastryzny and Luke Farrell were designated for assignment. I would be surprised if Zastryzny makes it through waivers. Additional roster moves are likely to come once the Iowa season ends in a few days.

  • 4 unearned runs in the AZL playoffs cost Cubs chance to move on. Best do a little fundamentals work.

  • That is pretty common in that league. Lots of 17-19 year olds down there.

No lead in the AZL is safe. Between catastrophic breakdowns on D and pitchers that sometimes walk the world 4+ run innings are a norm.
