Who knew they had brooms in Atlanta...

Cubs got swept by the Atlanta Braves today, losing 5-1 despite Jeff Samardzija going all Wu-Tang and striking out 13 Braves. It's Sunday, and i feel like trying something new. So let's kick this pig Gallery style....

  • Would be nice to see Logan Watkins called up, before or after Barney comes back. I'd like him to be given the chance to play 3rd for a while. We could use a real lead-off hitter who can actually steal bases. Either that, or sign Chone Figgins. Beats Valbuena/Gonzalez/Lillibridge.

  • In reply to MikeWadle:

Chone Figgins hasn't been able to hit for years now. He's been one of the worst offensive players in baseball. He was dropped by the Marlins -- who are even worse than the Cubs.

  • In reply to John Arguello:

    Well stated!

  • I hope that top prospects will be brought up only when they are ready.
    To early to panic.

  • I am going to sew you for posting a foto of me without my permissions. And that guy to my left is preddy peeved to! He is my nefew and my step-sun!
That series of photos was a hoot! It helped to relieve the pain of a bad two days!

  • Felzzy you had me worried for a minute but after pic#3 I'm sold!

  • Best recap yet.

  • Cool. Glad you liked it. This was pretty much a dry run. Just a quick Google search for some photos and some game shots. Once I get hooked up with Getty or something when I can intertwine real game photos with silly pictures, then we're gonna have a real good time.

  • In reply to felzz:

This set up + real game photos = awesome hilarity

  • Very funny. I think the little league defense was my favorite!

    Loved it!

  • I was gonna make a joke about Dale using the shift. But I thought I'd save it....

  • Well,.... we all kinda (or at least most of us kinda) figured that this was not going to be a 'great' year for our Cubs.

But still doesn't mean we gotta like it.

  • Has anyone NOT noticed that Sveum should have pulled Shark after he had pitched 90 pitches? It's April! I can't blame the guy, the stupid former Altoona manager (I live in Altoona, PA) should have taken him out and not done a Dusty Baker in him! Admit this, folks!

  • I'm not sure it's that big a deal in the grand scheme of things. Samardzija is strong as an ox and I'm not sure the extra 10-15 pitches is going to matter. Plus, Since nobody was on base because he struck everyone out he wasn't pitching in any "stress". Until the end.

In fact, the one thing Shark needs to work on and develop is pitching out of the stretch. So one COULD argue the last 10-15 pitches were exactly what he needed.
