Video of Jorge Soler's video. Taken from a cell phone so it's a little grainy. A big thanks to reader Geoff!

Ball always sounds different coming off his bat.

  • In reply to Marcel Jenkins:

Video may be a little grainy but that sound is pretty clear!

  • Love that sound!

  • In reply to Pura Vida:

    Me too!

  • Because of the team's lack of power any chance of stewart not making the team. Which non-roster players who don't make the
team could be sent to AAA, because they have some value.

  • In reply to emartinezjr:

I think they'll keep Bogusevic, Chavez, and maybe Nelson as far as guys with some power potential.

  • In reply to emartinezjr:

No. I see the Cubs wanting to take the outside chance that Stewart can come back, healthy, prove the critics wrong, and be a trade chip or shore up 3B until the kids are ready.

Bogi has performed well, albeit ST stats. Maybe Chavez, maybe Nelson on AAA roster. Seems like, so far, the Cubs are emphasizing multi-positional players for the bench to fill in for days off, etc.

  • In reply to emartinezjr:

With one (Vizcaino) or two (Stewart) 40 Man slots open, I think Theo will seriously contemplate what he did last year with worse free agent selection position, and add a guy or two. In 2012, he added Shawn Camp and Luis Valbuena to the 40/25 Man roster. While I can't even venture to guess which players will get snuck through this year, adding a player without trading anyone of value beats adding a player who could be stowed at AAA.

Remember that Valbuena was added, then farmed out, then recalled later. Whether it will be a SS/3B type, a solid PH option, or another pitcher or two, it doesn't matter long term who is in Pittsburgh on April 1st. What would be nice is adding more talent without giving any up.

  • I realize that it was only at high A, but lets hope that Chavez can figure something out and put up numbers close to 2010. 315/387/577 with 32 bombs and 96 RBI. If he can fix his contact issues he could be a gem.

  • In reply to Nick Nesler:

Could be a nice find. Writing a piece on AAA Iowa and Chavez is included there. He may start in AA again, but I think they may test him in AAA this year.

  • Sounds like a cannon shot. More Soler power coming to a stadium near you.

  • In reply to mutant beast:

    Hopefully soon!

  • In reply to mutant beast:

    Soler power.

Why didn't I come up with that? Hopefully, that will become a staple in sports news headlines in Chicago.
