Happy Thanksgiving!

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!

I want to take the opportunity to say I'm thankful to have such outstanding readers/contributors, not to mention writing with great guys like Tom and Felzz.

I'm also thankful we have a front office that knows what it's doing, has a plan, and is sticking to it.  Even if it means some occasionally painful baseball for another year or two.  It'll pay off sooner than we think.

Unless the Cubs make some more moves, I'll probably be taking it easy the next couple of days.  Not only is it Thanksgiving and I'll be spending a lot of time with family, but it's my wife's birthday weekend as well.  So there will be much food, celebration and perhaps a scotch or two.

I'll be checking in, though.

Just in case.

Happy Thanksgiving, John, Tom, Felzz and everyone!!! Lots to be thankful for this year, and in regards to our sports I'm also thankful for this front office and their plan...I wish I could be thankful for a decent Bears O-Line an a decent backup QB but that would be pushing it!!! Lets hope we'll have a host of trades to discuss in the next week or two!!!!

  • In reply to Luigi Ziccarelli:

I'd be very thankful for an O-Line! That was a disaster Monday.

  • Happy Thanksgiving to you John, and Tom and Felzz as well. You guys are sticking to a plan with this site, just like the Cubs are, and it is the best site around, in my experience.
And to all the readers and contributors, you true-blue Cubs fans, I'm grateful for this site and for the thoughts and ideas and passion that comes from you all. Thanks for keeping it civil too !!
And to Hubbs16, thanks for getting it about our guy Kenny.
Have a great holiday, all of you.

  • In reply to StillMissKennyHubbs:

To you as well my friend and to all whose writing and opinion sharing make this a "must read" for me. Be healthy, be happy, be safe!

  • A big thanks for being the one place where baseball junkies such as myself can come and get our Cubs fix on a daily basis; especially during the winter months when all you seem to hear about is football 24/7. Have a great time this weekend, John!

  • Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!

  • Happy Thanksgiving to you, John and to Tom and Felzz and all the fine fans on this forum. What a pleasure it is to have such a great fraternity of knowledgeable Cubs fans, something I'm truly grateful for. Do enjoy your time off, John. You certainly deserve it.

  • Happy Thanksgiving from Costa Rica! Or as they say down here, "Feliz Dia de Accion de Gracias!" (it's a mouthful!).

Thanks to John, Tom, Felzz and everyone else in this fine forum. It has been a bright spot this year and it's nice to actually see a place on the web where civility and respect AND intelligence reigns.

  • Thanks John. I rarely make comments, but I check your blog every day and am never disappointed. Keep up the good work and have a great Thanksgiving.

  • You guys are the best and provide a wealth of Cub(baseball) info to the fans.

  • Happy Thanksgiving, John and all the fine fans on this forum!

Even though we lost 101 games this year, I'm still thankful that :
    1) Theo hired Dale Svenm over Bobby Valentine
    2) I found this site (Cubs Den) last winter
    3) We went a whole year without pitching to Albert Pujos with first base open
    4) We appear to be on a 2-3 year plan, not the 20+ year jobs that Baltimore, KC, and Pittsburgh fans have had to endure
    5) We've finally rid the club house of the cancerous cheaters and me-first personalities
    6) The "light at the end of the tunnel" shows an awesome roster featuring Almora, Solar, Vodelbach, Sczcur, Baez, Lake, Castro, Watkins, Rizzo, and Castillo
    7) Some fine performances this season : A. Soriano (benefitting from better health and better coaching), Shark (finally mastering his off speed pitches), Garza (sticking around to support his team-mates after his injury), and Camp/Russell for excelling in their 7th and 8th inning roles

  • The Cubs may be a turkey team now but its going to be the cock of the walk in 2014 and beyond. Thanks John and Tom and Felzz for a most enjoyable year of following the Cubs through your blog. You guys not only know about baseball but you know how to run a blog as well. Keep up the good work and have a thankful Thanksgiving.

  • Happy Thanksgiving to all! Let's all make a conscious effort today to really think about all that we're thankful for. Also, Happy Thanksgiving to Bryan Lahair, who signed a 2 year deal with the Softbank Hawks for 4.5 million dollars. Good luck, Bryan!

  • Thanks again everyone, for the kind words. Wish I could respond to each individually but getting ready for the long drive to the in-laws...

  • I'm thankful for my family and friends for one. I'm also thankful for John on this excellent blog, an island of fun , intelligent baseball talk in a ocean of mediocrity.
