Training update: Friday, 11.11.11

Here I am, 100 days to go until the Austin Marathon! Eeeek! This week hasn’t been too bad training wise…yet. All my runs have been slow, zone 1 runs. The gym was a bit intense on Tuesday, but nothing horrible. ChicagoNow is holding a blogger discussion thing downtown tomorrow morning. Instead of attending that tomorrow... Read more »

Dads Who Run: Meet Scott Tremaine

This is the next installment of Dads Who Run here on cubicle dad runs. Working parents have a lot on their plate. And as a working dad, I think we sometimes get taken for granted. It’s tough to balance work, family and life in general. Now add in endurance sports? You’re upping the ante a... Read more »

Training update: 111 days until the Austin Marathon, weekly recap...

Last week went well I think. My legs feel fresh and I feel decent over all. I ended up logging 22.85 miles running, 7.5 spinning and got an hour or strength training in. I feel like I’m hitting the groove, with fitting everything in, which is nice. This week, my long run will actually be... Read more »

Training update: 117 days until the Austin Marathon

Last week was an easy toe dip in the water way to get back into things. Most of the week, Coach Jen made my runs short and slow. I ended up running just over 19 miles, and hit the gym on Tuesday with Ashley Bond. Saturday, before my session at Spirit in Sport Myofascial and... Read more »

Dads who run: Meet Keith Lipinski...

This is the first of what I hope becomes a regular thing on cubicle dad runs. Working parents have a lot on their plate. And as a working dad, I think we sometimes get taken for granted. It's tough to balance work, family and life in general. Now add in endurance sports? You're upping the ante a bit. I thought it would be nice to highlight some Dads who run! If you're a dad who runs, and want to share your story, leave a comment below and we'll talk! With that said, take it away Keith!
1. Introduction I am Keith Lipinski, 37, an Information Technology (or IT as it's commonly known) Manager at Paper Source in Chicago. I have a two year old son named Gavin, my beautiful wife Ryan is an administrative law judge for the State of Illinois. We reside in Park Ridge, IL at my mother in laws house which is quite helpful when it comes to both running and raising a kid. We are saving up to get a big down payment for a nice suburban home,  complete with ¼ mile running track in the backyard (note to realtors, the lack of track is a dealbreaker). In addition to running my hobbies include bartending, musical snobbery, professional wrestling (I hosted a online radio show for 7 years and have been involved behind the scenes as a writer, promoter, producer, DVD host, etc), and trying to be a fantastic dad while trying to get a minimum of 10 hours of sleep a night – hence the deliberating Starbucks addiction...

My thoughts on the Lifetime Chicago Triathlon: Sprint Triathlon relay

Sunday morning marks my entry, OK, toe dip into triathlon. I will be running the 5K as a part of a relay team comprised of myself, Phil Castello (Going the Distance) and Dave Wallach (Pace of Chicago). We’ve tossed around a couple of team names and I think we’re going with the ChicagoNow (I don’t... Read more »

What is my deal?

This week is off to a rocky start; I’m stressed out and up until didn’t know why. I assumed it was due to the marathon being a mere 46 days away- at least in part. Yes, I’m getting a little antsy. I had a mini freak out yesterday, after my first marathon related dream Sunday... Read more »

Race week update from Tampa, FL...

I’m about 10 minutes from the start of the day’s off site meeting for work so I thought I’d give a quick update. Yesterday was our travel day down here, to sunny rainy and humid Tampa. I got a quick 4 mile run early, before Pam and the girls got up. I spent the morning... Read more »
