When the Bank of America Chicago Marathon launched 10-10-10 The Date to Motivate, they gave everyone a chance to help customize the marathon experience this year. The first phase was voting on the poster design that will be handed out. Yesterday, voting was closed and the winning design was announced.
I voted for the winning design because it features
all 10 athletes in the campaign. I thought featuring all 10 athletes, all 10 stories and all 10 motivations to run was the way to go.
Now, we're onto phase 2...voting for the official commemorative 2010 music. You can help set the pace this year by voting for the music selected by former Chicago marathon champions.Your choices are...
- Ryan Hall- "Hallelujah" by Justin Timberlake
- Deena Kastor- "Beautiful Day" by U2
- Colleen De Reuck- "Chariots of Fire" by Vangelas
- Joan Benoit Samuelson- "Forever Young" by Joan Baez
- Tera Moody- "Won't Back Down" by Tom Petty
- Khalid Khannouchi- "Going the Distance" by Bill Conti
If you haven't, go vote!
This morning I received another donation for the American Heart Association! I am sitting at 97% of my goal. I'd love to blow past the $5,000 mark today. UPDATE: I've crossed the $5000 mark! I want to blow it out of the water! Give me a hand, if you are able, please make a donation. Or spread the word, tell your friends and help me hit it today! If you've donated, thank you. I appreciate the support!
I'm looking forward to the race on Sunday. I haven't been to nervous about it yet, though I'm sure it'll come. I also noticed the race calendar is emptying out. I have no races planned for after the marathon. Whoa, this year is flying by.
I also have no idea if and when I should do anything afterwards. I decided I'll take a "wait and see" approach, just focus on Sunday and on the marathon, and then go from there. l talk to Coach Jen and Pam, think about my goals for next year and beyond and start planning accordingly.
With as hectic as everything has been with training, work, Pam's schoolin', the girls...I've been looking forward to tonight. My annual distraction, Pam's main source of busting my chops starts... tonight I've got my fantasy football draft. This will mark my 17th season. I'm in my longest drought, 6 years with no title and counting, so my goal is to not suck as bad.
I'm hopeful luck will go my way. This year I let Pam and the girls name my team, hoping for some luck. They named my team the Chicago Foofy Fluffy Muffins. Here's to hoping the Fluffy Muffins have a kick ass year!
Coach Jen set my workout schedule for next week...and it looks intense. The highlights:
Monday- rest day after the 1/2
Tuesday- 45 minute walk
Wednesday- hour long run with one mile at a sub 10:45 pace
Thursday- 50 minute moderate run
Friday- sexy buff time at the gym
Saturday- sandwich run, part 1...3 hours
Sunday- sandwich run, part 2...2 hours
Last sandwich run I got a late start on Saturday night. This time, I've got some help with the girls so I can start earlier. I'm going to head out around 5pm, which hopefully will be easier. I can run on the trail longer...yay! I just said yay about a 3 hour run...wow.
Alright, more later!
