some thoughts on losing 100+ lbs...
I’ve had this in the works for a while now, and after an email I received I thought it was time to share.  Over the past year (well, almost) when I’ve spoken to people about what I was doing, I’ve been asked a few times what my secret has been.  And I’ve been surprised... Read more »

10 mile run recap and pre 1/2 Madness thoughts...
Today I got in my long run of 2:00:00, I wanted 10 miles and went out with that distance in mind.  I felt good last night after hanging out with K and PG and knew I was going out early enough that the heat shouldn’t be a factor. I got up at 5am, got ready,... Read more »

my new running shoes and how to tie them...
I mentioned I got new running shoes last weekend, and I must say…I love them.  I picked up a pair of Brooks Addiction 9s at Runners High n Tri (thanks Mark!)! They are lighter than the Beast, which I’ve been wearing since I started training, but offer great stability!  I’ve worn them all week and... Read more »

working on my race plan for 1/2 Madness in Batavia...
On one hand I feel like my race plan for 1/2 Madness is simple…take my plan from the Chicago RnR1/2 and run with it.  On the other hand, I’m growing more anxious as we get closer to the Chicago Marathon and worry if I push too hard, or run stupid I’ll get hurt.  That... Read more »

sandwich run recap...

sandwich run recap...
Mmmmm…sandwich run.  A year ago that meant going to Subway or Jimmy Johns, and having 2 sammiches because, you know, one ‘healthy’ sandwich is fine BUT two?  Now that’s REALLY healthy.  Ugh, how far I’ve come. No, this week my long run was split in two parts, Saturday night and yesterday morning…sandwiched around some sleep. ... Read more »

rest week, long run split...
This week has been a step back week.  I ran Tuesday night and last night.  Tonight I’m hitting the gym and tomorrow is my second rest day.  Yes, Coach Jen gave me an extra rest day this week, yay!  We’re also changing how I’ll attack my long runs from here on out.  I’ll be splitting... Read more »

weigh-in wednesday, week 45 results...

Results are in…I lost .8lbs this week.  My total weight loss now stands at 106.5lbs.  I’m 8.5lbs away from my goal of 210. Looks like I’m starting to level off, which I’m fine with.  We’ll see how it goes over the next couple of weeks before I even think about calling it a done deal…who... Read more »

10-10-10 The Date to Motivate

10-10-10 The Date to Motivate
A couple of months ago I applied to write a diary for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.  When they announced the 10 diary writers I though that was it.  I got an email a day or two after that and was asked if I would participate in part of the ad campaign for this... Read more »

long run recap: new distance PR

long run recap: new distance PR
This past Sunday I had my long run of 3:00:00, my longest scheduled run to date.  To be honest, I wasn’t really nervous about it.  I was looking forward to running it and running it alone.  I wanted to hit 15 miles and felt like I had that in my wheel house. I spent Saturday... Read more »
