my mind is racing and it's not just the heat...

During and after this morning’s run, I felt ‘meh’.  This is two runs, two days in a row now I’ve felt like this.  Yesterday was an easy run, and I figured I’d still be sore from the Soldier Field 10.  So I chalked it up to that.  Today I felt fine physically, but mentally I... Read more »

rest day realization...

I had thought about running a 5k tomorrow, yeah not so much.  Coach Jen and I had talked about it and decided to play it by ear and see how I felt after yesterday.  My legs feel OK, not bad but not super great.  My feet are better and my hip isn’t too bad today. ... Read more »

my nipples feel great!

“What the hell”, you ask?  I’ll get to that I promise.  Today I joined thousands of others to run the Soldier Field 10 Mile!  I was a little antsy this morning, but I seemingly avoided a full blown freak out this race. Yay!  Many thanks to those of you who sent supportive messages.  I have... Read more »

eff you nerves...

I woke up nervous this morning.  Not for my short run today, but for the Soldier Field 10 Mile tomorrow morning.  Today’s run went fine…quick 20 minute run with 4 strides thrown in for good measure.  I feel ready, legs feel fresh and rested.  Yet I’m still nervous. I’ve run longer than the race, so... Read more »

it's a rest day and I feel a little guilty...

These past 7 months I’ve learned a lot.  I’ve learned when to push, how to eat for racing and when to rest.  The last one confused me.  Rest?  But I’ve been so inactive…the goal is to get me active, get me moving and not be lazy.  Rest days are important and are not equal to... Read more »

Dynamic Duo Visits Runners High 'n Tri this July...

I’ve shared my love for Runners High ‘n Tri before!  They always have answers to my questions, they know their stuff- they’re good people. The end of April they had Pip Taylor in for a Q&A session…it was awesome!  In July they have 2 events scheduled that I can’t wait for, featuring both 2009 Ironman... Read more »

weigh-in wednesday, week 33...

Results are in…I lost 1lb this week, bringing my total weight loss to 83.5lbs in 33 weeks.  I’m now 16.5lbs away from my goal.  I just teared up a little while typing that. Some of the numbers…I’ve averaged a 2.53lb loss per week since starting.  In order to hit my goal of losing 100lbs by... Read more »

my goal for the soldier field 10 mile...

After posting yesterday I emailed Coach Jen to talk about a goal for the Soldier Field 10 Mile on Saturday.  I asked Coach Jen what she thought, she in turn replied and asked what I thought my stretch goal was, or my BHAG (big hairy audacious goal) as I like to call it. I thought... Read more »

race week...

After my long run on Saturday, I was grateful for the rest day yesterday.  I laid low and didn’t do much.  To tell the truth, I didn’t feel up to much.  My legs were sore and my foot hurt…a lot. I feel way better this morning, and I got up early to go for my... Read more »

new long run PR...

Ow.  That’s how I felt during and after my long run with Dave this morning.  We headed out at 6:15am for 2:20:00.  Coach Jen wanted me to stay in zones 1 and 2 for the first hour…we had to pull back a few times, but I felt fine.  I had a Clif Shot about 40... Read more »
