Plan for weather-related delays on CTA - especially trains

My email inbox and Twitter feed both Sunday and today have been overflowing with alerts from the CTA about rail delays due to inclement weather. So plan your trips accordingly.

ost of the delays are due to switching problems brought on by the arctic freeze Chicago is now experiencing. If you really must go out, dress warmly and check the bus and train trackers.

  • It would be nice if those "French" bus shelters had heat in them!
(French because they're made & designed in France with an extended contract to the city!)

  • In reply to ApresSki:

    Wrong!
    They weren't designed in France!
They were designed by American architect Robert A.M. Stern!
I know that because Tribune architecture critic Blair Kamin wrote about them!

Heated bus shelters are too expensive for the CTA. Not all train stations are heated.

  • Yikes! Fangs for the info. A hearse ride is looking much varmer at the moment.

  • In reply to Count Gregula:

I don't think its occupant cares about the temperature, although the gravedigger might have to inquire whether a blow torch is necessary to thaw the ground to start digging.
