CTA Holiday Train: Santa and crew to work long day Saturday on Red, Purple lines

Santa Claus and his CTA helpers will work a long day on Saturday, riding the Red and Purple lines, posing for photos with kids of all ages, and delivering boxes of food to the needy.

The festivities start at Howard terminal at about 11:15 a.m., when Santa presents 20 food boxes apiece to two agencies: Care for Real and the Howard Area Community Center. Then Santa will sit for photos on his throne in the open car until about noon.

The CTA Holiday Train will then head south to 95th/Dan Ryan, where another photo session will take place from 1:50 to 2:40 p.m. It will make the round trip back to Howard at around 3 p.m., and then ride the Purple Line tracks at about 4:15 p.m. The final photo session of the holiday session will commence at 4:50 p.m. and run till 5:40.

The Holiday Train leaves for Howard at about 6 p.m. for one last round trip on the Red Line. Santa and crew are scheduled to end their day just after 9 p.m.

Yes, a long day for the whole crew. I'll be at Howard around 11:30 a.m. Saturday if anyone want to stop and say hi. Jack, Scoooter?

The final day for the Holiday Train is Monday on the Yellow Line. Also, check out more Holiday Train photos at the Ms. Demeanor's Photo du Jour blog.

Thanks for the fun times, Holiday Train!

  • Thanks for the details. I'll be in the dentist's chair right about the time you're at Howard. Next year maybe!
