NSFW: Nude "goddess of the train" stops CTA Red Line at Granville

A nude woman claiming to be the "goddess of the train" halted southbound Red Line service for a short time early Saturday afternoon until police could escort her off to jail at the Granville station.

The "goddess" said she was going to the front car to drive the train and told everyone else to get off, according to Anne, who shared these photos.

No doubt the actions of this woman prompted this CTA alert sent at around 1 p.m. today:

"Some 95th-bound Red Line trains are operating with residual delays after an earlier disturbance aboard the train at Granville."

That's a disturbance one doesn't see too often.

As Anne put it in her email to me: "Just a normal day at Granville." Though she did add: "This tops anything I have seen in 20 years riding the CTA.

  • From picture #2 maybe a Greek goddess.

Other than saying that she wanted to drive the train, she looked pretty fit.

...isn't this what everyone would have been doing if Eve never "ate the apple" ... lol

  • In reply to jack:

wonder if she rode in the naked bike ride!!

    In reply to jack:

I'm a retired Motorman from Australia and we have the same naked adventures here I can assure you! Just when you think you are safe, someone drops their pants or presents their breasts for the world to see. But, as for one wanting to "drive" the train, that is a new one on me!

  • fb_avatar

Where did she keep her Ventra card?

Funniest thing I've heard all day!

    Maybe she has Venus Envy...?

  • In reply to Vincent Truman:

    Solid! Lol!

The same place she keeps all her shit

Couldn't the police have given her a coat?
    They were getting their kicks.

  • fb_avatar
    In reply to Paul Barile:

Yeah getting there kicks. Here take my coat, so I have to burn it afterwards. Then they can go spend another 200 on a new one because some mental has to be a fool. Getting their kicks, yeah ok.

    In reply to Paul Barile:

Paul, those were my thoughts exactly. She's obviously a mental case and they should have had the decency to spare her humiliation and the ensuing viral videos.

  • fb_avatar
    In reply to Rosemary Lesh:

What? Humiliation? What humiliation. She is walking around naked for Gods sake. You did notice her naked didn't you? I sure did.

  • In reply to Paul Barile:

Listen lady, the police don't just walk around with extra coats for goofballs that walk around the train station naked. Get a clue.

  • fb_avatar
    In reply to Paul Barile:

    Amen!

    In reply to Paul Barile:

As we can see, She didn't like to wear it.

  • Sorry Robert, but I deleted your comment. That's not what this is about.

  • fb_avatar

Hope she gets the psychological help she needs.

  • fb_avatar

Dittos to what Paul said. My exact first thought. Clearly, somebody who goes nude in public with grandiose thinking is not mentally well, and should be cared for and protected. Dignity, people, dignity.

    In reply to Rob Conrad:

    Agreed.

  • fb_avatar
    In reply to Rob Conrad:

if you see a naked person on a clothing optional (nude) beach will you think they have mental issues and they are not mentally well?

  • fb_avatar
    In reply to Rob Conrad:

@ Rob Conrad it sounds like you have gymnophobia the fear of seeing naked people in public in most parts of Europe it's legal to be naked (nude) in public or being naked in public is tolerated either get over your gymnophobia or stop wingeing

  • fb_avatar

    Agreed Robert.

  • I was on that train today when this happened. It was so bizarre. This woman clearly had some mental health issues. She was calling all of us "sinners" and demanding that we get off the train, insisting that she was the only person here who was truly free. It would have been just another crazy person on the train, but the sad part is, there were lots of little kids in that car, too. It took CPD about 20 minutes to get there and pull her off the train. In the meantime, she was getting in people's faces and screaming at them. Nobody wanted to look at her, but you couldn't help it.

  • In reply to Admanc:

Thanks for the true story, Admanc!

  • fb_avatar

Considering the road kill I usually see riding the red line, she is a relief.

  • fb_avatar

Apparently, because she was a young, shapely woman this is a "funny" story, even though she clearly has mental problems. If an old, fat, hairy man or woman had done the same thing, due to mental illness, would that be a "funny" item, too?

  • In reply to Dell Cousins:

Heck, no. That would be S.O.P.

I see that she had a "faceoff" overnight, too.

  • It's really sad, how did she make it past the CTA employee that is always standing by the turnstile? (Granville is my stop but I'm there in the morning and evening so maybe there wasn't someone there when this happened?) Or the little store that is there and generally open? Either way, I second Paul's statement about CPD not giving her a coat, though as a medical advocate for a rape crisis center I've seen the way CPD treats people, I'm not surprised that they didn't. I hope the poor woman gets the help that she needs.

  • At least her m.o. is much better than that of our government: total transparency.

  • In reply to Aquinas wired:

I suppose that today's Mother Goose and Grimm is purely coincidence.

  • fb_avatar

why didn't she enter miss universe? Thank God she was place in safety..

  • My guess is that she was probably clothed (likely in just an overcoat) when she got on the train and then took off her clothes on the train. I can recall that Jerry Springer had a woman on his show back in the 90s who was filmed walking around Chicago wearing nothing more than high heels and no one seemed to confront her or say anything about her state of undress.

  • fb_avatar

And she is decent looking. Don't arrest her, we want to see what she's twerking with.

  • In reply to Kevin J:

I think we see what she is twerking with. The question is what she has up front.

  • fb_avatar

I present the official Goddess of the Train poster, print one for your loved ones or something.

  • Why is this funny? This woman is mentally ill. She is also somebody's daughter, sister or friend. Taking photos of her, posting them online, writing a "cute" story about it and making crude comments - cruel. But then, that's the way we treat people with mental illness, isn't it?

  • In reply to lilac booth:

you are so right..someone should have covered her up too.

  • Where did she keep her Ventra card?

  • fb_avatar

I'm with all that stated she needed a coat, as well as she need some help... but she was fit....

  • fb_avatar

What do you guys think cops do all day? I've been on the job for 30 years and I have no doubt that when they got her back to their cruiser, they wrapped her in a blanket from the trunk. Why do you think that we would respond with what...a bag full of clothes? Give me a break. It just really annoys me when people who obviously feel that we don't need cops at all speak up and try to find some way to blame us for this woman's crazy problems. So I tell you what, just take us out of the equation and just let her continue to do what she was doing. How do you think that will work out?

  • fb_avatar
    In reply to Dillard Hughes:

I agree with you Dillard , but unless the blanket in the back of the cruiser is made of lead they should have planned ahead and brought it with them.. after all there are children and even your everyday people who do not need or want to see that.

  • fb_avatar

Gentrification,Transportation, Sanitation, and Elimination! Jus' Curious? Is this part of the infamous Redline Renewal project...

  • In reply to JXhyphen Rob:

If it were, the cops would be taking her to a stage with Emanuel behind a podium, and Claypool about 3 rows back of Emanuel in front of the mandatory backdrop with Red Ahead logos.

  • I live here in chicago and something like this always hapens on the red & bluelines. She slapped some ppl too. My co-workers and I were joking like: I bet she didn't slap anyone on the southside, the police would have been carrying her unconscious body off that train lol, I see they got to her on Granville aka northside too lmao.

  • she probably voted for obama.
