Happy 9th birthday to CTA Tattler

It was nine years ago today that CTA Tattler debuted on this here Internet - so Happy Birthday CTA Tattler!

It all started with a post explaining "What this is about." And the original concept for this blog holds true: "This blog will document things seen and heard on the CTA."

We've had some fun over the last nine years. I hope I've informed you about CTA happenings, and maybe made you laugh.

It's been four years now that I've been blogging for the ChicagoNow community of blogs. This opportunity has opened up CTA Tattler to even more readers.

It's been a great ride so far. And we're going to keep chugging away.

Thanks for being here with me.

  • Congratulations. And I forgot that is is about 7 years for which some poster was uncorrected that the MTA Act provision on appointment of CT Board members was amended in 1983 to stick it to Harold Washington, when the legislative history shows that no such amendment was ever made.

At least you outlasted "Ask Carole." And if governance was bad in Carole's day, think about to what it has degenerated since then.

  • Thanks Jack. I'm not sure whether outlasting Carole Browne is an achievement or not, but I'll take it.

  • In reply to Kevin O’Neil:

It was, to the extent that Ask Carole was ballyhooed as a new sense of corporate openness in the Internet age, then she quit responding to comments, then she quit posting, and then when she left the CT Board, she took down the comments. The age of her "if [some commenter] in McHenry doesn't want a tax increase, there will be more air pollution heading your way" (not a direct quote, but close enough) ended in about 3 months.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • In reply to ibilldavis:

    Thanks, ibill!

  • Congrats, Kevin.

A good blog doesn't happen all by itself. It takes work and vision and a nose for news. And it usually proves its effectiveness with a vital comments section.

    Keep it up.

  • Thanks for the boost, CC. I have to admit that sometimes it's hard to find a story or get motivated to write. But all in all, it's been fun and I just keep doing it!

  • Congrats Kevin! That's pretty long in the blog world, and I think I've been along for the ride for at least half of those years.
