"El Stories" depart every Saturday on Greenhouse Theater stage

The Waltzing Mechanics currently are staging their 10th edition of "El Stories" at 11 p.m. every Saturday at the Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 N. Lincoln Ave.

Their stories are inspired by real stories of CTA commuters. God knows, there's plenty of material out there.

Each week, the show also offers a volunteer audience member an opportunity to share his or her own experience aboard the CTA and then watch their story instantly played back on stage by selected ensemble members.  After the show, audience members are encouraged to share their own transit tales with company members.  Those recorded submissions often form the scripts of future editions for the production.

In February 2011, I gave an early version of "El Stories" a great review. There's every reason to expect a great result this time, too.

For tickets ($15), visit the Walt Mechanics website or through the Greenhouse Theater Center box office at 773-404-7336.

  • Chicago is not NYC, in Chicago its called the L not the EL, get it right.

  • Trolleycoach, just to be clear - I am well aware that in Chicago it is spelled "L." However, the Waltzing Mechanics choose to spell it "El" so I abide by their (mis)spelling.

  • Maybe we should boycott the Waltzing Mechanics until they get it right.

  • I can just hop on the Lincoln bus to get...oh wait.

  • In reply to Cheryl:

It is called El Stories. Maybe they are implying what you should do, or not.
