Argyle station to reopen Friday, while Berwyn closes; NB trains bypass stations due to weekend track work

Time marches on for the CTA's Red North Station Interim Improvements project.

This weekend it means Argyle customers get to see the fruits of six weeks of labor when the station reopens at 10 p.m. Friday.

And starting at midnight Friday, Berwyn customers will have to use CTA alternatives as that station closes for rehab for six weeks.

Next up after Berwyn: Lawrence is set to close at midnight on Oct. 19.

Weekend track work on North Red Line. As part of the slow zone maintenance, northbound Red Line trains this weekend will bypass Wilson through Granville station from 10 p.m. Friday till 4 a.m. Monday.

For service to these stations, take a Howard-bound train to Loyola and transfer to a 95th-bound train. For service from these stations, take a 95th-bound train to Sheridan and transfer to a Howard-bound train.

In addition, at Sheridan station, Howard-bound trains will stop at their normal platform, but board/exit trains on the outer tracks instead of the inner tracks.

The CTA advises you allow extra travel time. That is excellent advice.

  • The question on Argyle is if it will retain the Little Chinatown/Saigon look. CTA slide show sort of implies yes.

And whether the bypass stuff had anything to do with whatever the incident was at Granville.
