In this week leading up to the 84th Academy Awards, CTA Tattler is featuring the top 5 films with the best train or subway scenes. At No. 2 we have the famous car/elevated train chase scene from "The French Connection."
Great Movie Car Chases - The French Connection
This scene is probably one of the most exciting and famous chase scenes ever. In the scene, Popeye Doyle (Gene Hackman) chases a French drug dealer. Popeye is in a car on a New York street, while the drug dealer is trying to get away via an elevated train above the street.
That would be kind of like a high-speed chase by cops on Wacker Drive chasing the Orange Line. Except they would never get up to the speeds seen in "The French Connection."
The rest of the Top 5 to date:
No. 5: "Kontroll"
No. 4: "Batman Begins" fight scene
No. 3: "The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3"
