SOLVE's murderer convicted; street artist caused stir with CTA installation

Kirk Tobolski was convicted of second degree murder Friday in the 2008 stabbing death of Brendan Scanlon, a popular and prolific Chicago street artist.

Scanlon went by the street name of SOLVE. One of his higher profile pieces was the installation of this television on a Blue Line train. The screen was stenciled with "We are experiencing legal difficulties."

My daughter was a friend of Scanlon's. I am happy to see this case resolved.

  • Apparently the trial of the guy in the multicolor sweater who allegedly shot up the bus on the south side has started too. It seems like exposing the security camera tape on that case was a deterrent.
