CTA expands "Adopt-a-Station" program; TIF funds Edgewater improvements

The CTA would love to see community groups making a greater commitment over time in its "Adopt-a-Station" program. To that end, President Richard Rodriguez on Tuesday talked with 50 volunteers as they prepared to paint the Bryn Mawr and Granville Red Line stations.

According to a Sun-Times story, "The work at the Edgewater L stations is part of an initiative by Ald. Mary Ann Smith (48th Ward)  and the Edgewater Development Corp. to make improvements in the neighborhood. This will include improvements for CTA retail
spaces, to make space for new and small businesses, according to Smith's office."

Plans include making capital improvements in the retail spaces in Edgewater to make them more rentable to small businesses. Just over $1 million in TIF funds will finance the project.

Congrats to the Hawks: Here's a short, off-topic shout-out to the Stanley Cup Champion Black Hawks. Way to go!
