T-Mobile service finally debuts in subway; winning ideas in Trib's CTA contest

T-Mobile customers got service last Friday in the subways after waiting a couple of months since the August announcement by the CTA of a deal by the cellular carrier.

The CTA will earn $3.1 million on the T-Mobile deal. AT&T customers with their iPhones have been waiting since June for service. I haven't heard that AT&T service is now available in the tunnels. If you're an AT&T customer, let me know if it is.

Big ideas in Trib's CTA contest. Tribune Business columnist Melissa Harris gathered some creative, hilarious and even practical ideas on how the CTA can make more money. Check them out here. Frequent Tattler commenter James Reyes got a shoutout for his idea to outfit buses with snow plow and salt spreaders and collect money from the city for snow removal.

  • If they were really interested in helping the C.T.A.,all the entries should have been presented. It's going to take more a few million dollars to prevent this latest doomsday budget,so the more ideas to choose & actually use, the better.

  • I guess people should read this article before asking for iPhone service on the CTA. http://www.suntimes.com/news/24-7/1859808,cta-robbery-commuter-train-110209.article

That is one quick robbery. Makes you wonder how he knew someone would have an iPhone, or if he just would have stolen any phone. How long would he have before doors closed on him? Unless he had an accomplice on the train. Plus, the Wilson L stop is not the nicest area anyway. Not sure if that would happen in the tunnels, but maybe I'm wrong.

  • 2nd paragraph needs to be edited. Doesn't read correctly...

  • In reply to chris:

Thanks Chris. Yeah, that was kind of a mess. I fixed it.
