A surprise among a mountain of bags

At least this woman doesn't have her bags on the seat next to her, right? But do you notice anything strange here? (Hat tip and photos by Tovi.)

Check the continuation for the surprise. It's worth it.

Awww, Nice kitty! Just for the record, it's against the rules to bring animals on the CTA without a carrier box or cage, unless it's a service animal.

  • The kitty is proably a service animal, supporting a couple of bags.

In fact, until the second picture, I didn't see a woman, just the edge of a skirt and legs. I guess I didn't realize it was a side view of the same person.

They use cats as service animals?

  • In reply to jack:

Oh it's so obvious, the cat was a spy from the IOC 'testing' the transit system before the big vote and as a result two cat transit friendly cities have been eliminated.

Or maybe they weren't cat friendly enough????

Believe it or not, I've had to do research on the subject, there is no such thing as a service cat. It could be a therapy cat, which is not subject to the same rules as service animals (we have to let service animals in at work, we can deny therapy animals that aren't in a carrier and wearing either a collar or a vest identifying them as such).

I did the research after I stopped laughing about the whole idea of a service cat. I have two, the most work they do is come tell me if I need to close a window because it's raining.

  • In reply to Cheryl:

Well, there ya go. They are cats, they want service.

I'm 90% sure I've seen this same lady and cat in the loop a couple times, first at LaSalle and Monroe and then again at Adams and Wells. She's got the typical Look I Have an Animal, Give Me Money routine. The first time the cat wasn't on a leash and could have run into traffic whenever, but the second time it thankfully was.
