Artists take over Loop train for rolling exhibit on Saturday

Chicago Art on Track -- billed as the largest mobile art exhibition in the world -- will roll on the Loop El tracks from 11 am till 8 pm this Saturday, Oct. 10. Art enthusiasts can board the eight-car train at Adams and Wabash. There's a $10 suggested donation, with the regular CTA fare waived.

Chicago artists Stan Chisholm and Lisa See Kim will fill one of the train cars with cartoon moneybags containing screen-printed messages. Over the last month the artists held four screen-printing workshops at the Hyde Park Art Center. They taught budding artists the printing techniques and produces the fake money and messages for the art installation.

  • Several years ago I suggested Chicago museums place mini exhibits on trains as a way to attract more passengers for the C.T.A. and attendees to the main museum.
