This past week, I had the pleasure and the opportunity to visit The Liz Long Gallery at Chicago Urban Art Retreat Center (CUARC). A wonderful splash of color and safe haven in an otherwise bleak and unwelcoming part of Chicago. Dianna Long and her hard working volunteers and organizers packed the place for the opening of The Women of All Colors art show.
The show (February/March 2013) features Artwork from women from around the globe. Special focus on art by women about their lives, about what concerns them, about difficult issues they are dealing with and that they see people around them dealing with. I was drawn to the bright and alluring work of Janaia Williams, local abstract artist. Keep an eye on her. See her work at http://www.abstractartexplosion.com and at Andre Guichard Gallery http://www.galleryguichard.com. I can't wait to see what comes next!
