We may be freezing to death right now, but it was red hot at 13th Floor Haunted House Chicago over Valentine's Day weekend. Of course Da Count and I, along with guest Team Gregula members Gene and Bonny from Images by Scary Girl, were hex-cited to take a terrifying trip to Melrose Park to participate in the best way ever - the Vampire themed Love Bites: A Valentine’s Haunted House!
Anyone who is remotely familiar with 13th Floor Haunted House will definitely know that they do holidays right, and V-Day is no exception. But this time the V is for Vampires and they have taken over the haunt in true The Lost Boys style! Leather clad vamps lurked about the waiting area looking for tasty (human) treats while 80s tunes blared over the loudspeakers. Good thing Da Count and I are already undead so we were safe!
The story is that vampires have taken over 13th Floor Haunted House Chicago. But lucky for us Love Bites: A Valentine’s Haunted House is an interactive experience. Yes kids, that means we got to be a part of the fun! Our mission was easy (yeah right!) with the training and skills from expert vampire hunters (HEY WAIT A MINUTE?!?) try to vanquish the creatures that lurk ahead. To accomplish this we were given three different colored glow sticks representing vials of holy water and other concoctions and were given explicit instructions whenever we see a glowing coffin to hold the correct vial to keep vampires at bay. OK we decided to go ahead and be mortals for an evening and complete our task.
As usual, there was amazing scenery along with a challenging path which made the haunt extra creepy. Actors were on point all night long and scared the Van Helsing out of me!
Even though we had to become vampire hunters (eek) we still had a fang-tastic time and would definitely recommend 13th Floor Haunted House for all our howl-iday needs. Can't wait for October now!
