Being the undead family that we are, there is nothing scarier than having to go to church. Unless the church has a haunted basement, that is. So we decided to head on over to Saint Pascal's Haunted House aka The Catacombs, a haunt that the Gregulas have been going to for many years.
We went on a Friday night and the line wasn't too long, but luckily we had the $30 Triple Haunt VIP Pass (where you also get entry to Hair Razor Haunted Scenes and Scream Scene's immediate access line - RECOMMENDED) so we got in right away. If you don't want to splurge and prefer to brave the long lines, there is plenty of wait entertainment with creepy clowns and other gory creatures wandering around to scare the bejeebus out of a mostly preteen crowd.
We were sent down into the basement into a brightly lit room where we posed for a pic with some scary props, then ushered into another room glowing with black light and gloomily decorated in funeral chapel style. A girl with a bloody head wound who seemed to be in too good of a mood told us the rules of the haunt and then joked around with the patrons a bit in a teasing manner.
Then you finally get to go inside the actual haunt, pass by the boiler in a glowing fog which conjured up thoughts of Freddy Krueger coming to get you. There are many dark mazes to navigate as well as low-set doorways (duck!) within The Catacombs, making you feel as if you're actually in an underground crypt. The rooms are nicely detailed and the actors are very enthusiastic, good for all ages but still scary enough to make the poor girl in the group behind us cry.
