Ever vondered vhat goes on vith the stars behind-the-scenes at a failed Horror convention? And vhat if your favorite movie killers vere being stalked by a killer themselves? Add a heaping dose of black comedy and direct it by Bo Duke and you get John Schneider's Smothered.
A group of cult Horror icons including Kane Hodder (Friday the 13th), Bill Moseley (The Devil's Rejects), R.A. Mihailoff (Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III), Don Shanks (Halloween series), Dane Rhodes (Deja Vu) and Malcolm Danare (Christine) are at this crummy horror con that is dead...haha - dead - get it? So the guys, bored and looking for some extra cash, get a really lucrative offer from the owner of a nearby trailer, ummmm RV park to scare the HELL out of the residents. Vhen they get there, they discover that their employers are a creepy old voman (Amy Brassette) and her vell-developed in the top-half daughter DD (Brea Grant). So as they start to "haunt" the park, all of a sudden the tables are turned and THEY become the victims as someone is mysteriously knocking them off one by one in gruesome but hilarious vays.
This movie is a fang-tastic blend of b-movie gore horror and comedy. The funniest part is how the actors parody themselves vith inside jokes, especially R.A. Mihailoff constantly acting like a scared little girl. The actresses' performances are psycho crazy, and the horror is just enough to temper the comedy.
John Schneider did an awesome job with this film, surprising us with a true knowledge of vhat horror fans love. Not bad for a good ol' country boy!
Countess and I give it a big **TWO FANGS UP**.
