Sitting here in Chicago with snow flurries and high temps in the 30s, thoughts of spring ever coming seem pretty far away. But fear not- the 2013 Chicago Flower & Garden Show has brought a bit of sunshine and color to our lives with their annual week-long event at Navy Pier!
The show (themed The Art of Gardening) has been going on all this past week, but Count Gregula and I had the extreme honor of being invited to their preview benefit event "Evening in Bloom" last Friday, March 8. We had a "blooming" good time enjoying a sneak peek of the show's 20 featured gardens, sipped tasty cocktails and noshed on delicious food offerings from Navy Pier’s own Harry Caray’s Tavern and Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Bar & Grill, as well as Dirk’s Fish and Gourmet Shop, Cyrano’s Bistrot Wine Bar & Cabaret, Wildfire, O’Donovan’s Pub & Restaurant, The Chicago Retail Bakers Association, Eli’s Cheesecake, and Chief O’Neill’s. YUM!
The gardens were delightful, definitely fitting with the art theme with eclectic plant and tree based sculptures dotting the exhibit floor and waterfalls everywhere. Count and I really enjoyed ourselves immensely and cannot wait for Spring to hurry up and get here so we can experience the flowers outdoors!
