It's been almost two years since I met a lovely girl named Cricket (aka Maria Cristina), who answered a message I posted on the Chicago couchsurfing board about a girls night out. She had joined couchsurfing a couple of months prior to that, but had not yet participated. She came out, we got along swimmingly, and became very good friends. So I was quite dismayed and upset when she told me that she was leaving Chicago, and more importantly ME, to get her Ph.D. at Tufts University in Boston. Boston? Are you kidding me? Well, she was very serious and left yesterday, July 5, 2011, to be exact.
Cricket especially liked that I am a little wild and crazy, and encouraged her to escape her comfort zone every now and then. I convinced her to do the No Pants Subway Ride (sorry Mom and Dad), that staying out past 11:00 pm is OK, to attend the Pride Parade, and to get more involved with couchsurfing (she met and stayed with CS'ers on a recent trip to Europe - YAY).
Cricket is like a partner in crime without a real crime. She is great fun, lends an ear any time, will do anything once, and has given me so many fun and enjoyable Chicago memories.
Despite being a traitor, no one can replace her. It looks like I will be sending a couch request to Boston as soon as I am able to travel there. I should do it before she realizes what a big mistake she made, and comes crawling back to the Windy City, and me, begging forgiveness.
Here is a little photo gallery showcasing the night we met, with some fun in between, and our last night hanging out at Millenium Park for the 4th of July.
