I, for one, really dislike the heinous Chicago winters, so I can't imagine traveling here in January or February to visit by choice. Hence, it is kind of a "slow time" right now for couchsurfing requests. Hell, I want to get out of town and couchsurf in livable temperatures without bundling up from head to toe; however, work and my $0 travel budget prevents me from doing that right now.
One of the cool things about couchsurfing, though, is that it isn't just about travel. You can hit one or many of the activities posted on the Chicago group's message board provided you have created a complete profile of yourself and are a member. The possibilities are endless, ranging from the weekly Thursday meeting to yoga classes to house parties to getting a tattoo. Yes, people have joined together, twice now and a third installment coming soon, to get individual tats at a discount rate. Who would have thought??
