10 Low Calorie Snacks

Doesn't it piss you off when you read the celebrity trainer advice in magazines.  Have they ever shared a golden nugget of advice that wasn't anything but pure common sense?

"Eat baby carrots instead of chips."  WHAT?!  Brilliant, why didn't I think of eating healthy veggies instead of these Flamin Hot Cheetos?

I don't know about you, but just because carrots are crunchy doesn't mean they taste like a potato chip.  Sure they can be sweet and delicious, but lets call a spade a spade.  It's a veggie, not a salty carb, covered in some delicious synthetic flavor like sour cream and onion powder.

That said, I actually consider myself a healthy eater.  So I have compiled a list of some of my favorite snack foods that are healthier then a bag of Fritos, but satisfy better then a pile of veggies.  And lets face it, if your go-to snack is broccoli, then you have no business reading this blog.

Quaker Quakes
70 calories and 2.5 grams of fat, Quakes come in both salty and sweet varieties.
Nabisco 100 Calorie Packs
These snacks are great for grab and go. I love the low-cal indulgence, but I'm not a big fan since one pack never seems to make a dent, but since 2 bags are just 200 calories I don't feel too bad grabbing an extra.
Skinny Cow
For ice cream lovers, Skinny Cow is your friend. A variety of ice cream sandwiches, bars, cones and cups each with less then 150 calories and 3 grams of fat.
Weight Watchers Chocolate Creme Cakes
Just 80 calories and 4 grams of fat, this is a guilt free desert! They also come in carmel, lemon and carrot cake.
Kashi GoLEAN Crunch
I love cereal for snacking. It's crunchy, it's sweet and if you're going to eat cereal, you can't beat Kashi. This cereal delivers a whopping 8 grams of fiber and 9 grams of protein in one cup! 3 cups of raw broccoli doesn't pack as much fiber.

Laughing Cow Cheese
2 grams of fat and 35 calories per wedge. They're delicious and pair up nicely with the Special K crackers!
Kellogg's Special K Crackers
These flavorful crackers have just 90 calories in 17 crackers. 17 Ritz crackers will cost you 240+ calories.
94% Fat Free Popcorn
Listen, my family is from Wisconsin, and one of their basic food groups is butter, so I know low fat popcorn isn't the same, but with just 100 calories in 6 cups you can get over it. 1 cup of regular Cheerios has 100 calories.
Sugar-Free Jelly Bellies
For the sweet-tooth these are a great snack. It's a sweet treat that's fun to eat and only has 80 calories per serving.
Pop Chips
Not fried, not baked. Take a fresh potato add a little heat and pressure, and you have a pop chip. The only thing added is a delicious seasoning, and with just 120 calories and 4 grams of fat per serving, you can't go wrong.
