What's Happening This Week in Space: August 13th, 2018

Summer might be coming to an end, but there are still plenty of public observing and astronomy events taking place in Chicago. Free admission to one of Chicago's best museums, observatory tours, and an evening under the stars are all happening this week in space!

Yerkes Observatory Tours, Williams Bay, WI, Through October 1st

Time is running out to tour the historic Yerkes Observatory operated by the University of Chicago. The observatory will be closed to the public later this year, so be sure to head up to Williams Bay if you are interested in viewing this architectural and historic building. Scopes in the City, Albany Park, August 15th, 11:30 a.m.- 1 p.m.

Summer is wrapping up but the astronomers and educators from the Adler Planetarium are still out in full force throughout the city to bring the stars to the public. Community Bash 2018: Adler Undercover, Adler Planetarium, August 15th, 6:30-9:30 p.m.

Join the Adler Planetarium for a free community event celebrating the work of the Adler's summer teen interns. Not only will you learn about what the interns were up to this summer, but you can learn about future opportunities and take part in activities for all ages. Adler After Dark: Camp Adler, Adler Planetarium, August 16th, 6:30-10:30 p.m.

Every month the Adler Planetarium hosts an evening event just for adults, and this month's theme is the great outdoors. Not only are the exhibits open, but there are several special events, activities, and guest speakers.
