If you’ve been acquainted with my Cooler on the Lake Shore blog for a while, you know that I’m a hopeless lifelong weather junkie. And the panaromic view from the lakeside apartment to which we moved last year provides perspective on Chicago’s ever-changeable weather that never could have imagined. If you love great music, then you could listen to an orchestra perform Beethoven in a small, dark basement room and still come away inspired. But on Saturday, a beautiful night that itself was sweet relief from this summer’s record heat, I had the pleasure of sitting on the lawn of Millenium Park’s Frank Gehry-designed... Read more »
We had a brief sun shower late this afternoon, and on cue, there was a rainbow over Belmont Harbor. Right outside my window. I love this place.

Here is a sampling from today’s haul at Chicago’s Green City Market… There are raspberries, blueberries, sweet cherries, apricots and peaches; sweet corn, red... Read more »
We got home from friends right at the end of the Navy Pier fireworks, but just in time for the show at Belmont Harbor, right outside our windows. Not nearly as big, natch, but very, very close can be cool, too.
