I'm a long-displaced Arizonan living in Hyde Park with my family. I've been a preschool teacher and a PhD student. I've travelled to Poland in search of 17th century Latin texts and bicycled down the California coast with one friend and a pack full of home-dehydrated dinners. I co-teach a summer art camp and love to make paper, and teach paper making, when I can. I married into a Greek family and hit the in-law jackpot.
Throughout all these experiences I have collected recipes from the people who fed me.
This blog is about some of those recipes and many new ones I have yet to collect--and the stories they have to tell. All over Chicago are wonderful home cooks who have stories about their cooking, their eating, their heritage, and their rituals. Here you will find beloved recipes from all parts of the city, as well as the stories behind them.
