Summer means rib festivals. The largest and most attended is Ribfest, which ran this past weekend in the Lincoln Center neighborhood. Starting at Irving Park Road and going north for two blocks, Ribfest packed in the crowds.
Since 1999, Ribfest has been one of the most popular food festivals in Chicago. Ribfest features great ribs, smoked meats, and barbecue of all kinds. People from all over the country come to Ribfest to show off their barbecue skills.
There was also entertainment and activities for Children.
Uncle Bub's from Westmont, Illinois and Texas Thunder are regular visitors to Ribfest and other Chicago food festivals. Both are known for the size and decor of their booths. Local vendors included Robinsons #1 Ribs, Mrs. Murphy's Irish Pub and Bistro, Q Barbecue/Lakeview, The Piggery, and many more.
Ribmania, an eating contest, drew a very large crowd. The contestants were some of the big names in professional eating competitions. They vied for a $4,000 prize. The contestants placed in the following order:

4) Jeff Butler 3.21
5) Juan Rodriquez 2.77
6) Sean Nichols 2.75
7) Andrew Kogutkiewicz 1.9
