Day 141: Sushi N Noodle

Before I get to today's small business I have good news and bad news.  Let's get the awful news out first.  My beloved new favorite shop,  Lola's, is closing. I am heartbroken. But, she's hoping to sell.  So, if you've always wanted to own a fabulous store in a Rockwellian town here's your chance! This also means, get your butt to her store because it really is too good to pass. On a happier note, Posh- the awesome consignment/boutique- is adding a second location. The new one is dangerously close to my house and should be open by September...wahoo!

Ok, on to today. This place is a classic example of not judging a book by its cover. At first I was a bit hesitant to try a sushi spot located a few doors down from Target. There was certainly no reason to hesitate; Sushi N Noodle is delicious. If you care more about the quality of the food than the fancy dishes & table linens, you won't be disappointed.

I don't want to say that Sushi N Noodle lacks ambiance, because it doesn't. True, it's not fancy by any stretch of the imagination. But, they've created a feeling of home. They invite you to sit at the sushi bar so it's easier to include you in conversation & the creation of your meal. It's like pulling up a stool at a friend's kitchen counter and chatting while they whip up delicious snacks.

Even if you're not a sushi fan, I hear their noodle dishes are great too. I keep intending to try them, but I'm hooked on their Spicy Crab Roll, shrimp tempura roll, and their miso soup. The next roll I'm trying is their "sushi sandwich"- the 59 Roll.

Open for lunch and dinner, check their hours, though, because they're closed for a break between the two. Sushi N Noodle also has several party trays available so consider them for your next big event.

Besides their lobster dishes, nothing on the menu is over $20. It's not only delicious, it's affordable sushi too.

Where do you go for sushi? Favorite roll?

My favorite place is Yamado. I ask for the Chef special in addition to my favorite, White Sox roll or Emily roll. I love following your tour to independent biz throughout Naperville. Thanks for rep the small guy!

Just discovered this blog yesterday when searching for more cool things in Morris.
Have you ever been to Contrary Mary's? On Rt 52, just west of Shorewood.

  • Hi Renee, I'm so glad you found my challenge! I have not been to Contrary Mary's yet, I will definitely add it to my list- could use their help this weekend. Is that where you buy flowers & garden supplies?

They specialize in varieties you won't find other places...especially hostas. The lady who owns it/lives there is a wonderful help. Also--they have honey bees. I've never bought any, but she told me last fall they sell out quick!
I'm sort of like you--truly appreciate the small businesses in this area. There are so many! Now, off to shop in Morris.
