
August 19, 2013 Garrett Popcorn Shops unveiled the newest mural to adorn their 87th street store. The mural was created by students from Simeon Career Academy and Kenwood Academy participating in After School Matters under the direction of artist Rahmaan Statik. Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Alderman Roderick T. Sawyer and executives from Garrett's Popcorn were on hand for the unveiling.

Garrett Popcorn has operated in Chicago for over 60 years. Garrett Popocorn opened the 87th Street store in December 2011. The store has been a huge success for both customers and the business community. The business community has taken noticed as there has been an increase in businesses who have expressed an interest in opening on 87th street or Chatham in general.
