It's March Madness, last weekend we saw Chicago Simeon take their third State Title and this past weekend we saw the University of Kentucky making the final four. In both cases, there were participants of the Cole Park Classic in both games. The players Jabari Parker from Simeon and Anthony Davis from Kentucky.
The Cole Park Classic is a basketball tournament and clinic that takes place in August at Cole Park, in the Chatham community. The Cole Park basketball courts are best known as the courts the late Be Wilson made popular. The Classic which has been sponsored by Lyle for Kids for the last 12 years, allows both girls and boys of all ages and skill levels to enjoy the game of basketball. It also allows those of who perform at the highest levels to showcase their skills against some of the best basketball players in the city. One noted former Classic participant is Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls.
The tournament final weekend crowns a champion and turns into a back to school rally, where book bags with supplies are passed out.
