The 2013-2014 season at the Joffrey Ballet has already begun and so far, we have prepared ourselves for the performances at the Blossom Festival with the Cleveland Orchestra conducted by Tito Munoz. These performances will be held on August 17 and 18. Very exciting.

The Joffrey Ballet has decided to add a few more performances to this season with a new program entitled Russian Masters. This program will take place on September 19, 20, 21, and 22

This is a very exciting year and I am looking forward to seeing all of you at our performances

Russian Masters

September 19-22, 2013

4 Performances Only!

Allegro Brillante

Choreography: George Balanchine
Music: Peter llyich Tchaikovsky

Balanchine said this piece “contains everything I know about ballet in thirteen minutes.” Celebrating Russian romanticism and the beauty of pure dance, this fast paced dazzler is imbued with joy from start to finish.

Bells

Choreography: Yuri Possokhov
Music: Sergei Rachmaninoff

Designed as a meditation on the nature of relationships, Bells exemplifies Possokhov’s ability to blend traditional classicism with modern intensity to create a riveting piece of contemporary ballet. This was the first commission by Yuri Possokhov for The Joffrey Ballet.

Le Sacre du Printemps (The Rite of Spring)

Choreography: Vaslav Nijinsky
Music: Igor Stravinsky

The villagers search for the chosen one in this story of ancient pagan rituals. Causing audiences to riot when it was first staged, Sacre stands as one of the most magnificent musical and dance masterpieces of all time.
