So I just have to say how lucky we are to live in Chicago and to have experienced what we did over the last several days....the Chicago Dancing Festival. It finished last night with a great show at the Pritzker, and I'm just reminded of what an amazing city this is, as a place that supports the arts, puts together a festival of so many first rate companies from all over the country, in a beautiful outdoor setting. We are so lucky to live where we do....
So yes, it has truly been dancing madness! Two weeks ago the Joffrey was learning 5 different ballets for the new 2010-2011 season. Then we moved on to put back together the ballets we performed at the Chicago Dancing Festival this past weekend, as well as getting ourselves ready for our tour to Ohio for the Blossom festival with the Cleveland Orchestra this upcoming weekend.
It is dancing madness, but a very exciting month for us dancers at the Joffrey. It's wonderful to share our city and our stage with other wonderful companies, we have much in the works for the new season, and an upcoming tour. I was not dancing in last night's show, but it was great to see so many people beside me supporting the arts and supporting Chicago's home company, the Joffrey :)
It's only the start to what will be an amazing Joffrey season!
