The famous show is in Chicago at the Cadillac Theater today, auditioning for its next season. It's exciting to see dance represented on mainstream television, and "So You Think You Can Dance" is certainly a reason why so many more people are being exposed to dance and why so many today see dance from a different angle. The show has brought fun and excitement to the dance world for 6 seasons now...with the winner taking home $250,000 and the title of "America's Favorite Dancer". It's nice to see favorite dancer, rather than "best" dancer because dance is about so much more than perfect technique...it's that style, energy, and passion that people fall in love with. The past winners have been excellent and so different...Nick Lazzarini, Benji Schwimmer, Sabra Johnson, Joshua Allen, Jeanine Mason and Russell Ferguson.

I agree that passion is most important but my wish has always been that dancers can dazzle with crystal clear technique as well; otherwise, the quality is gone. The problem is, how to humanize technique. When I studied voice, I asked my teacher the same thing...when does it become music? Her reply, you have to trust yourself.
