Art Exhibition and Silent Auction benefiting the Mondika Research Center in Congo Africa at Brookfield Zoo

Now, I'm not one to go to the suburbs BUT I have been meaning to go to the Brookfield Zoo and I think I may have found the day.

This Friday, October 26, 2012 the American Association of Zoo Keepers is hosting a Art Exhibition and Silent Auction For Gorilla Conservation in the Zoo's Discovery Center.

A $5 admission gets you soft drinks and apps (wine will also be available for purchase).

Human and BZ animal artists will be featured and proceeds will benefit the Mondika Research Center located in Congo Africa.

The Mondika Research Center is one of only two centers dedicated to learning more about wild Western Lowland Gorilla (Gorilla gorilla gorilla) behavior. It is located in virgin rainforest near the Nouabale-Ndoki National Forest in Congo, Africa near the borders of Cameroon and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Western lowland gorillas are the only species of gorillas found in zoos in North America.

In addition, due to the research and conservation efforts at this site, all logging has been banned allowing for all the species who call this stretch of forest home to thrive.
