Ever been to The Hideout?
No? Then you're in for a treat.
Bazer is a syndicated columnist and the 'Interview Show' is what the name implies.
And so, I came for Tavi (read how it went here)...but I stayed for the bar.
It's just west of the DePaul lpc campus. The street has no lighting and it's nestled in between factories, a truck fueling station and a fleet of snow plows. You feel like you might get raped walking up to the bar but then you cross the threshold and it's like you're in a secret world.
It's really just a dive bar with lots of Christmas lights (which instantly class up any place) but the whole 'Interview Show' experience was just...cool. There really is no other way to describe it. It was intimate (couldn't have been more than 75 people), Mark simply shot the shit with his guests, I made new friends and there were snacks courtesy of City Provisions (I have a feeling I'll be blogging about them sometime soon).
Check out the bar (located at 1354 W. Wabansia) and photos below, or go to the next 'Interview Show'. It's $5 to get in and takes place every month.
