There are different levels of "health" to everyone. What does that word mean to you? What about healthy eating? What does that bring to mind? About a year ago, I envisioned lean proteins, good sources of carbs, and healthy fats. Now, it's plants, seeds, nuts, and grains. No protein, carb or fat ratio - just whole, unprocessed foods, which give me plenty of energy and are designed to help my body recover.
Whatever your definition, there are different ways to "modify" the American diet, whether you are out in a restaurant or cooking at home. Below are 3 popular types of cuisine: American, Mexican and Italian, as well as 3 popular dishes. We have divided them into 3 categories: good, better, and best. Of course, these are our opinions of what "best" is, so again, it's up to you to figure out how you want to modify a meal. But, get creative - when you think of pasta or burgers, you don't often realize all the different little variations you can do that will take a meal from semi-healthy to completely clean. Enjoy!
