R&B soul line dance group Lines 'N Motion, helped kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual international health campaign designated every October, to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds.

This is Lines 'N Motion second annual "pink" fundraiser for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  The dance group participated in the event by wearing custom made pink football jerseys and performing line dances to patrons of Bolingbrook's newest restaurant, Coop's Den on October 3rd and 17th. "The crowd loved it and thought it was a fantastic idea," says Belynda Head,  Lines 'N Motion dance director and instructor, "They wanted to order jerseys for themselves to be part of this great cause."

Lines 'N Motion is part of the entertainment lineup at Coop's Den every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month, with the theme "Thursday Line Dancing at Coop's".  To show their dedication to Breast Cancer Awareness Month,  over 60 Lines 'N Motion dancers, male and female, raised over $300 to donate to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.   Head says this was a personal journey for her troupe. "We are reminded every week by one of our very own LNM member and my assistant, Cheri Vance whom is a 10 year survivor." expresses Head. "During our kick off, we were informed of another LNM member that was stricken with breast cancer along with one of my best friends of over 30 years."

Lines 'N Motion was also invited to  "The Letz Rok Crews's 4th Annual Line Anniversary Grid Iron Get Down" in Chicago, to participate in their football theme party.  Head says they were able to fit right into Letz Rok's party by wearing their own pink football jerseys, as they continued to raise breast cancer awareness.  She says Lines 'N Motion will always be involved in this cause. "I personally visited the Cancer Treatment Center of America twice during the month of October, to support my friend before and after having her breast removed. This is a very serious disease that we will continue to join the fight to find a cure."

This has been a busy month for Belynda and Lines 'N Motion. Their new line dance television pilot "Line Dance Party!", premiered to high praise and accolades when it aired last week on WJYS-TV Oct. 24.  Head  teamed up with DVIDEO 79 Productions in creating the new 30 minute program, with plans of producing a mini-television series to debut next year.

Besides her charity events and television programs, Head is most proud of her students who participate in her weekly R&B soul line dance classes held in Bolingbrook and Aurora.  She says her dance crew is learning new dances and perfecting old ones, as they prepare to host their next big event, "The 4th Annual Red Shoes Holiday Affair" on December 7, at Navarro's in Naperville. "This is a fun event around the holidays that line dancers from all around town, including Chicago and Indiana, who come by for a great time of food, friends and line dancing all night long."

  • If you want to fight breast cancer, address the main cause of the disease: the perverse custom of binding the breasts. That's what it amounts to when women wear tight underwire bras (sometimes 24 hours a day). This is why breast cancer is a disease of the western world. It is also spreading rapidly in Asia and Africa, as those countries copy our unnatural customs. Bras constrict the tissues, depriving the cells of oxygen and trapping the toxic waste products of cellular metabolism.
