I attended 25 Degrees' (735 N Clark) "Southern Fried Sundays" this past Sunday with my wife. Upon entering the bar I instantly noticed the wall paper with accents of red velvet. This decor matched the rest of the restaurant's theme of raw design elements with the warmth of texture. I felt like I was in a speak-easy where I was certain to find my good friend, Nucky Thompson.
At "Southern Fried Sundays" the patrons get to order either Chicken Strips or a Chicken Sandwich entree and a choice of two sides. We both went with the chicken strips, which were far better than your average chicken strips. They were chicken thighs unlike most strips and were very sizable portions. They had the welcoming ease of common chicken strips with the taste of traditional home cooked chicken. There's something about fried chicken on a Sunday that just feels right.
Now for the sides... the Mac & Cheese tasted like your run of the mill mozzarella mac and cheese, but definitely no complaints there. The corn bread was deliciously soft and sweet with an interesting and unique flying saucer-ish presentation.
I would definitely go back for the Chicken Strips and Corn Bread, and I've heard great things about the burgers and malts as well.
