Eddie Huang Reveals the Cult-Like Culture at TED Conferences

And compares it to Scientology.

To be clear, Eddie Huang was named a TED fellow. The conference is about a week or so of all day meetings, talks (including stuff like How to Network with Billionaires), and mingling. You're not supposed to leave the conference during this period, so as to maximize absorption of TED-everything 15 hours a day. Huang knew this, left anyway to do a podcast interview on one of the days, and he got booted from the conference.

As his interviewer comments, "What is it where...people just fuck up everything? Even something as amazing as TED."

Honestly, the weirdest part of this whole interview is learning that they make the TED fellows room with one another in the hotel. And it costs $8000 to attend.
