A foggy day in Lima

I am in Lima, Peru, the next two weeks teaching a travel writing course for Columbia College Chicago students with my colleague Elio Leturia.

While classes in Chicago are cancelled due to below freezing weather, we have classes today because the high temp here is expected to be 77 degrees.

Yes it is warm and humid. But Lima is surprisingly foggy.

That may cast a mist on the ocean views but it doesn't stop life.

The surfers were out in the fog. People sat in parks and some even sun bathed as the fog rolled through the Miraflores neighborhood.

Lovers embraced in the fog, or a sculpture dedicated to them did.

It was a foggy day in Lima Sunday.

But in the end the sun shined through.
