Heading into fall there are plenty of Latino events happening around Chicago.
Latino Fashion Week runs through Saturday. There are many events, including a sports and fashion show Friday night and a teen fashion show Saturday night.
The Mexican Indie Music Soundcase will be held Saturday at the National Museum of Mexican Art, 1852 W. 19th St. It features musicians James López, Jazmín Solar, Madame Ur y Sus Hombres and Latin Grammy winner Carla Morrison.
The Latin American and Latino Studies program at the University of Illinois at Chicago is hosting a faculty book reading October 8 at 6 p.m. It will feature Christopher R. Boyer, Nilda Flores-Gonzalez, Cristián Roa de la Carrera and María de los Angeles Torres. It will be held at the National Museum of Mexican Art, 1852 W. 19th St.
The Global Latino Fest will take place October 11 at 108 W. Germania Place, Chicago. It will feature art, food and entertainment from Argentina, Brazil, Cuba and Mexico. Tickets are $125.
There are many concerts this month and through the fall for the Latino Music Festival sponsored by the International Latino Cultural Center. Highlights include Otras Músicas: Hispanic Composers based in Chicago-Fonema Consort on October 17 and "Apalabrar: Recital de Poesía y Música Hispanoamericana" on October 24.
