Finding the Virgin of Guadalupe

Today is the feast day of the Virgin of Guadalupe, the patron saint of Mexico and the Goddess of the Americas.

I have many times visited her Basilica in Mexico City. She appeared in 1531 to Juan Diego, an indigenous man, who was canonized by the Pope in 2002.

In so many places I have traveled, from London to a church in East Harlem, I have found images of this Virgin Mary.

She is ever present and in my life it seems I always find her. She offers guidance and comfort. To many, she is a symbol of motherhood and faith.

Last year, I shared this essay on the Virgin of Guadalupe. This year my offering is a photo slideshow of 12 images of the Virgin of Guadalupe that I have found just in the last few months.
