Join Oprah for free public taping in downtown Chicago Sept. 8

Oprah is starting her 24th season with a FREE PUBLIC TAPING Sept. 8 at Michigan and Ohio that will feature "an appearance" by the Black Eyed peas, according to a press release. No official word on whether "Boom Boom Pow" will echo down the Magnificent Mile.

Admission is free but count on standing for the two-hour taping. Also, bring your own snacks and water. The show will tape at Michigan and Ohio and promises to reroute traffic as thousands are expected to show up.

According to the statement, doors will open at noon Sept. 8 and taping will begin at 5 p.m. rain or shine. "Camping overnight will not be permitted," so if you were thinking about it, don't. Also, leave the fancy HD camera at home, they're not allowing "professional recording equipment."

More information after the jump.

What do you think, Chicago? Will you endure the crowd and standing-room-only to catch a glimpse of the queen herself and the pop impresarios?
